My cycling group uses it to post weekly ride announcements. Those of us fortunate enough to be included within the Circle of Trust get an email notification. But most of the group are lowly plebs who rely on FB. Idiots.

Facebook is just fine for the way I use it.
I'm not afraid and the price it right. |

FB is good for hobbies, and I wish people wouldn't use it for politics. But they do. It's also the most complete and elaborate identity theft platform ever devised. |

I left FB a few years back. One of the best things I ever did. It is an ultra toxic entity.

One of the bike clubs I belong to communicates mainly by their Facebook page. Since I've never had a FB account, I'm often out of the loop about upcoming rides. I wish they'd use Google Groups instead.

I gave up on FB a year or so ago although I did not use it much.
I used it to communicate with some distant relatives, who like me, only used it for a very limited sphere of people. Yet, FB would censor stuff like me calling my redneck cousin....wait, a redneck using a meme that apparently is on their hit list. Three cousins chatting about fishing with very limited friend lists.....I just got right off for good. I guess killing fish is not PC. Do not miss it for one second. |

They get inundated with complaints over things like "redneck" and have decided to treat it more harshly than threats of violence. You have to be careful if you use the word "white," might be auto-censored. From what I have seen, if someone couches their threats in terms of, "someone should ...(some horrible thing)" then it doesn't violate their TOS.

Twitter is now filtering "mean" replies before you send them:
https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-...eplies-rcna839 Never used Facebook or Twitter. When I first heard about them (2008-ish?) they both sounded like incredibly bad ideas. My wife used Facebook until, after watching the Netflix documentary "The Social Network" last year, she was finally convinced to close her account. |

I remember when everyone seemed to be jumping on the FB bandwagon (2007 or so), one person described it as "Myspace for those who are old enough to know better."

I wanted to test this thing, but couldn't make myself do it. Apparently they have been testing it on some people for months. |
