https://www.facebook.com/help/251747...485/?ref=share In 2019 Facebook admitted they were using phone numbers entered for two-factor authentication for advertising purposes. Even though we may individually try to lock down privacy as much as possible within Facebook and Messenger, we can't say the same for all of our Facebook friends. I might prohibit Facebook access to my contact list on my phone, but if even one of my friends that have me in their contact list doesn't, then Facebook has my phone number. A large part of what makes Facebook so profitable is data scraping as much information from its users so it can be sold to advertisers. When the product is free, you are the product. |
