If I'm going to be on the trainer, it'll be for a structured workout, so Sufferfest all the way.

Like the idea of Zwift, but not the execution. Never been a gamer so the graphics just seem too...cartoonish to me.
Like the idea AND the execution on TACX training app- realistic rides in various European countries, good video quality, plenty of rides to choose from. With a Neo2T, those inclines (yeah, so far have seen up to 18.5%) really make you work. Have been putting in 120-150 miles per week since the end of October and the stats are definitely improving. But it would be nice if someone could put the two of them together, with the ability to compete head to head, chat, etc. |

I used it since beta but only got hooked last March. I am a video game player and numbers geek.
I like the badge hunts, group rides, different challenges and races. I did way more time on the bike last year because of it and I am more fit than ever. It translated well to outside too. Record power and speeds in the weekly club TT and a few KOMs |

Then you should try Rouvy. There the tacx videos and racing. No chat in the app. Many use discord for voice chat. |

For indoors, Peloton with girlfriend can be fun-me on rollers and her with the ipad on mic stand and bike on dumb trainer. But generally rather than taking the zwift/smart trainer plunge I re-upped on winter clothes last year with electric socks and new bibs and another pair of winter boots this year, also a jacket repair. Winter riding can be sublime. Temps in the 20s-30's are no problem at all and it seems only occasionally that we are getting days without 20s temps.

And racing if you are into it. The team time trials are a lot of fun if you get with a group that likes to talk strategy and try new things. |

Yes, riding outside is the great but you are not getting a comparable workout. If that’s a desire.

Zwift is what you make of it. I don’t enjoy cold rides anymore. If I need to get outside in the cold running is a better option. Also if I do ride in colder temperatures I prefer my mountain bike. Group rides and races are where you can get a lot out of zwift.

I just got a power meter and have signed up for zwift. I am using a 25 yr old dumb trainer and a heart rate monitor.
The 2 rides I've done are much more enjoyable than previous trainer rides I've done. I much prefer going to the track, but that is not happening this winter. My goal for zeift is 3 times a week for 40 to 45 minutes per ride. |
