The folks at Niner are pretty helpful with that kind of thing and have been responsive when I’ve called them in the past. Good to get peace of mind from the source when you can.

Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water...

The above methods will get you the right answer, but if you like tools, a thread pitch gauge might be fun to have: https://www.mcmaster.com/2071A18/

This is what I put together to get one out of a bike that a friend did off the QR end. If you have enough of the rod available thread a pair of nuts on it. That will create a jam nut and you can grip that to unthread the mess. |

Mine came off but left nothing to screw anything onto? From what i remember its just a whole into the axle where the handle used to be.. |

Possibly try a threaded bolt in the other end that's a bit oversize, enough to bite into the inside of the TA and turn the entire mess out from the opposite end.

Yeah if its open on the driveside end that might work but my memory is telling me it was just a solid rod on that side tho i havent looked at the bike out of annoyance since i was left holding the handle pictured below as i just felt the air getting sucked out of me when it happened .)

If that rod is snapped, tap the bit of it you can see or access into the thru-axle. That should let the bit inside the shaft engage. Vice grips to the balance of the end where the handle used to be and back it out.
Another attempt to describe since words aren't as useful as pics. The handle (when locked) is what keeps things pulled inside so the TA can't be turned. With that gone (based on your pic) if you can get the inner bit of rod that's left into the "locked' area inside the TA you'll be able to use the balance as a place to grip and back it out. Once you get that pos out of the bike, get a DTSwiss or Paragon Machine Works TA. I've got a stack of those OEM ones that have been replaced with "real" TAs. It's one of the first things I'll do to a bike that's sticking around. |
