Astral Wanderlust Carbons are awesome and available in 28h and 32h (and apparently currently on sale). My only other real recommendation would be to call Boyd, they’re great people and will hook you up as well. Best of luck.
Also, the RR511 is a fantastic rim depending on how hard you get on it. Great training rim, I’d leave it at home on race day. Last edited by Malinois; 05-28-2022 at 09:37 PM. |

If you do end up with carbon for gravel, ride what you can afford to replace. I've got a pair of Nextie wheels that I've got 32c GP5kTLs on now that I'm thinking about putting gravel tires on. I'm hesitating because I've killed AL rims when said s--t happens off road. M |

Where did you see these on sale? I have the aluminum version and have been thrilled with them. Curious to try the carbon.

I’ve been quite pleased with the Citico rim from Nox composites. Myself and several others in WNC used to regularly take them out for long gravel and dirt excursions. None of us ever had any damage or loss of trueness despite some rowdy ramblin.

I agree that bad things happen off road, but I’ve destroyed just as many aluminum wheels as carbon ones, if not more. I do appreciate the feel of a good carbon rim and ride them more and more on and off road. Astral’s and BTLOS offerings seem promising. Any DT offerings that folks have used and fit my criteria? Thanks much all, D. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

DT doesn't sell carbon rims, AFAIK.

Check out the Bontrager Aeolus 3V with 25mm inner diameter. This wheel is bomb proof. They raised prices but still available at 20% discount currently at REI. Hard to beat value.

Light Bicycle AR35 or WR38 rims. I’ve been riding the AR35s on my gravel rig for three years now. Other than s few scratches from rocks I’ve kicked up they’ve been bomb proof. Still true since I built them. I ride them on very rough gravel and rocky single track. For reference I weigh 155 lbs out of the shower.
