Which Bottom Bracket-Cross Bike
Hello Paceline,
Rock Lobster Cross frame is nearing completion. It has a threaded BB and I am planning on running Easton EC90SL crankset. Any thoughts on bottom brackets for a cross/gravel application? I have never paid too much attention to this before and usually just use a shimano. Go with Easton, Chris King, something else? Willing to pay a bit more for durability/functionality/not having to mess with it in the future. Is there one threaded BB that is clearly the winner? thanks

shimano. the lowest level.
they should last about a year. you want to pull the BB once a year anyway to regrease, so may as well call it a consumable and spend $20 bucks on a new one each year.

I think the Easton has a 30mm spindle which rules out Shimano BBs.
If you get the CK BB for more than one bike, along with the proper service tool, it becomes a pretty cost effective setup. Otherwise, the stock Easton BB is probably the way to go.

Praxis makes a 30mm - BSA BB. More than a Shimano unit, but if you're set on using 30mm spindle cranksets, then you could just swap out the bearings as long as the cups will allow them to stay pressed in.

Easton uses a 30mm axle, so sadly no Shimano option.
You can go the disposable route, or spend for something really well sealed. If you go the latter, look at Kogel. https://www.kogel.cc/
