Setback for Brooks Saddle

I have a Ritchey Comp post on my Gunnar Sport with a 25mm setback. Is this enough setback for a Brooks B-17 to fit well?

No, they generally need as much setback as you can find. They have notoriously short rails...I found that some models of FSA posts have 35mm of setback and they also have an infinite adjusting system (which comes in handy to dial in a B-17)...

I think it depends on several factors about your fit on different bikes. With my Brooks I use Nitto posts with setback on some bikes and a Thompson with zero setback on another bike that has a very slack seat tube angle.

On most race bikes with an aggressive rider position though I think Steve is correct and you will need a post with lots of setback.

There are a few black and/or carbon posts around with sufficient setback. However, the only solution that gives you the classic silver look with sufficient setback is at velo orange:

Not the ONLY solution. But definitely the best priced and more than adequate solution. If you wanna spend some bucks for another pretty lug and wicked amounts of setback...

Wise words. I use the same. Perhaps not bling like a Thompson, but it gives the setback...

My personal geometry requires one less degree of STA. The fact that I use Brooks saddles requires another reduction in STA-for use with average offset post.

Some of the big offset posts are pricey or hard to locate.

Butt always beware of the setback changes forced by any saddle/post combination.

Problem I have with the Thomson "angle back" type post on my current frame is that the uppermost section of the post (3"/75mm) cannot be slid into the frame-limiting saddle height adjustment and effectively making this frame too big.

nothing that can't be fixed with a few new tubes i suppose.

Good Point .... The Thompson setback works for me .... I have enough post exposed.

The Swallow has plenty of rail unlike its big brother the B-17. Will (should) work with any seatpost (unlike its big brother).
