Unhappy Brakes pad woes

How often do you change the pads on your road bike? Mine always seems worn out and they barely fit on the braking surface without hanging down and ruining the wheel decals ( I know the World's most important concern right?) It seems as if the pads are just too wide or the braking surfaces are too narrow. Even when the pads are new. It really irritates me. I'm always trimming the pads with a razor so they will fit properly on my rim. I'm venting cause I just chewed up the decals on my new turbo Ksyriums, which by the way take at least 30 seconds off my morning commute.

Shino,
if you lower your tire pressure, the rims will expand, giving you the extra braking surface you are looking for.
You can thank me later

However, I know what you mean. My Shimano's have a large enough braking surface, and a quasi-aero shape that brings the decals away from the pads, should they hang over (which they shouldn't have to on these rims).

Oh, and I have to replace my pads often. I hate poor braking due to hard pads, and/or metal shards eating them up.

Change brake pads?

I change mine like a Hyundai warranty, 5 years or 100,000km... but then it hardly rains down here. I do maybe 4 or 5 wet rides a year.

shinomaster, what kind of brakes are you using with which brand of brakepad?
On my contemporary bikes I'm running Campagnolo pads on the Campagnolo Record Skeleton brakes. Just keep an eye out as the material gets closer to the wear limit indicator stamped directly on the brakepads.

On my older bikes, I'm running modern Kool Stop pads that fit perfectly into my 1980's-era Campagnolo Nuovo Record brakes. The performance is sublime and they look great.

Get yourself some SwissStop pads. They are the finest around.
