Trek Domane Disc Tire Clearance

Good afternoon all. Hoping to get a question answered so I can clinch a new purchase for someone.

Does anyone have any idea what the max tire clearance is of the 2016/2017/2018 Trek Domane. I've heard 700x32/35. I've also heard 700x30.

The person will be running both 700s for road and 650 for gravel, so if anyone has any experience what will fit your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Wheel and actual tire width matter. I ran GP4000 28s on my 2017 and could've maybe run 32s on standard road wheels, but definitely not on gravel wheels. That was part of what killed it for me, but the main issue was the seatmast. Constantly slipping and tilting, and that was just on regular roads. On gravel I would've been sitting on the top tube.

My wife’s 2018 Domane disc has accepted 32 Gravel kings on a relatively wide stock rims. Not sure the stock tires of 30 look to leave less room on same rim so my vote is 32-33 max.

I have a friend with a Domane SL disc. I'm pretty sure it's a '17 but might be an '18. His came with 32mm Bontrager tires and after 3k miles he replaced them with 32mm Gatorskins. He currently has 32mm studded Nokian A10's on there. If memory serves, there appears to be enough room for at least 35mm tires.

Was this the black seat mast “topper” like the current emondas use?

I am considering an emonda as it has everything i look for in a road bike, but I cannot believe that all the way from the $2,500 105 equipped model all the way up to the $11,000 etap model Trek uses that gaudy cheap looking black tube that the seat mounts to and it slides over the seat tube.
I would much rather see a standard 27.2 or 31.6 seatpost with an aluminum clamp even it it was a weight penalty.

Correct; it was the topper. Granted I am a large rider, so someone with less "load" may fare better.
