OT - RIP Don Larsen

httpccs://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/01/obituaries/don-larsen-dead.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage

Pitched a perfect game in the world series - Only pitcher to do so - doubt it will ever happen again!!
That picture with Yogi (Ninety percent of the game is half mental) is a classic.

Yeah I don't see that record ever being broken that was just too phenomenal. There are only 20 something ever perfect games and one in the world series which in theory is the best of the best teams and players is just astronomical.

90 years is a pretty good run. RIP.

yep that is how I see it. Don Larson, Wilt Chamberlain and Secretarist's records I don't see being broken.

Pretty much all of his per game averages (points, rebounds, field goal percentage, minutes) are safe unless the pace of play continues to speed up tremendously paired with a once in a lifetime talent.

Russell won more rings, but I have a hard time buying he was the better player when Wilt just seemed bored with it all for most of his career.

They should preserve his pitching arm in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Larson's record will never be broken - would require 2 perfect WS games - I doubt it will ever be duplicated.

Wilt's 100 point game might be given the 3's.

Secretariat's mile and half record, as a three yo could stand the test of time. What a magnificent athlete (I believe horses are athletes).

My father went to the game. It was one of his favorite memories, so it will always be one of mine.

Great game Don!

Off topic, but I don't see how this can be argued. Wilt was a much greater athlete than Russell. He averaged more rebounds per game over his career, and twice as many points per game.

yup! you got them all!! Wilt's could be with the 3's like you said. time will tell. that is one of the negatives when sports change rules and/or number of games. no longer comparing apples to apples.
