OT: Car repair... never seen this before

My overweight F350 dually just had rear brakes done and the mechanic insists on OEM parts: One of the new Ford rotors was cracked right out of the box.

just did the brakes all around on our honda minivan, have been using EBC "greenstuff" pads on cars for years, with good luck. for rotors usually go with some well known brand or the other, the savings over OEM is too significant to ignore, plus - i think the quality is better than OEM in a lot of cases. Wont go with no-name parts though, not worth the risk or the hassle.

Just chatting with my mechanic about aftermarket parts (after he installed a Denso rebuilt alternator that didn't work) and he specifically said there were a lot of poor quality rotors around. Told him I have been using the Centric ones and he agreed that they are good quality.

That rear Rotor sells on Rockauto for less than $20....... Also had a thought that the rear parking brake shoe would of somehow locked up.. while drifting... but doubt that... Tons of rotors are Made in China now..I got some Brembo rotors Made in China.. So far no problems...

Holy moly, never seen anything like that on a brand new rotor. Now that I think of it, I've only seen rotors broken as a result of the car being crashed.

Centric has been my default choice for reasonably priced rotors and I've never had a problem with them.
