Those stickers with your name that you put on the top tube

Cool? Not cool? When is it OK to have one?

Cool if you love yourself, cool if 90% of your friends have the same bike in the same size and color, cool if you suffer from short term memory loss and most cool if someone pays you to ride a bike in competitive events.

i agree with that, and it's particularly cool if you are travelling with your bike in another country and you have your home country flag on the bike too.

good conversation starter.

I've never been a big fan of the whole flag thing, but maybe that's just because I'm not much of a patriot, nor am I representing a country whilst riding

I do have my initials in this placement though. A bit more subtle and succinct than a full name.

I got small stickers with my dog's face on it. Just as identifiable, less looking like I'm a pro poser.

If you're on a racing team where everyone has identical frames, they are great. If you're on a custom, one-of-a-kind frame, they're tacky. There's a smooth gradient in between those two points.

This is crap. If you want one, get one. Anyone who judges you because you have one or thinks it tacky to have one unless your a pro is a person you probably wouldn’t want to ride or even associate with any way.

I’ve had custom bikes with my names painted on the bikes by the builder, and I’ve used stickers on others. Go ride you bike and stop worrying about whether it is “cool.”

The builder already posted his name on the down tube so... why not?

Great answer, thank you! There are so many ways to personalise your bike, putting your name on it is just one of many. I took it one step further and had my name put on my stainless steel rear chain stay, and not with a sticker! Good think I am not selling this one... lol
