Ultra R-12 Award (10 years in the making)

So I wrapped up my R120 last month. That's 120 consecutive months of doing a 200k brevet or longer per month. Some were the bare 200k minimum. Some were nearly 1300k. Some were "won". Some were done with just minutes to spare. I recall having done one in a wrist cast on a fixed gear back in 2011. And just this August I did one with my mouth wired shut due to a broken jaw. Stubborn persistence. And I'm intentionally taking this month off to break the streak. No R121 for me.

The RBA for the Davis Randonneurs was nice enough to meet me at the finish of my final ride with the award.

That's really difficult to do. My first r12 streak almost ended because my wife insisted I do some family activity. I just can't understand her wacky priorities

I was up to R35 a few years ago and didn't finish after falling on ice. I resolved never to try again unless I'm convinced it's safe. I have had more scary winter moments traveling than on a bike, although some of the rides I finished seem ill-advised.

Congrats! I don't think we've heard much from you lately, though I remember a number of pretty sick rides of yours in the past. Lots of them fixed, too. Just wow.

That is an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of yourself. I am proud of you and beyond impressed. Epic level of dedication is required to do that, over a period of time that so much could have derailed you.

One thing sprang to mind.

Wow! great accomplishment. As someone who had their sights on an R-12 (until the recent suspension of the program) I can in some small way imagine what ten of those would be like.
