I got them at REI way back when they were definitely revered. yes, they are wool so there is that BUT now I think the ONLY reason to buy them would be IF you want 3/4 but not in a bib format. the bib and the fabric were fine just not WOW

if they were re-released with a modern cytech chamois? no, I dont think I am a buyer. plenty of thermo roubaix 3/4 bibs nowadays that would 1) give you more lower core warmth and 2) not have the waist elastic digging into ones lower ab.

They made the decision to bring in Vulture Capital to try to get over the hump. The VCs brought the money in exchange for 51% of the company.
VCs promptly told the founders they were no longer needed to run the company and...surprise! they went out of business shortly there after.
So, the new IBEX is not the old IBEX. Buyer beware.
The founders of IBEX have been trying to start it up again under the name of Twizel, inc. named for one of the little towns in NZ where they sourced wool.

I think this is them, the originals.

That is good to know. Thanks.

I'd love for their bike stuff to fit a bit better. I have an XL MTB shirt that is so big I finally put it in the dryer, and it is still too big. But their mid weight long sleeved T (Woolies2?) are a staple from fall until spring. I bought a lifetime supply (6?) when they announced they were closing. I'm very hopeful and optimistic about the company's return.
Near the end they tried a chamois that was topped with a wool blend and it was grey and it was awful. Wool has its place but if push came to shove I'd probably take modern fabrics over for active pursuits over wool for various reasons. I still like a lot of it and even wore a t-shirt today from Ibex.

For touring and travel it makes sense and agree about the mid-weight Woolies.

I have a pair of ibex shorts and they have a fancy tech pad.
I really don't like them and never wear them. The wool is too warm for when I want shorts. Wish they were knickers, then they would make more sense.

I still have a few ibex full zip shaks. They are the best. I want a full zip hooded merino shak please!

I wish them luck and hope they end up with a more durable product. I ran across an ad in Instagram and was surprised I didn't get an email about the launch.

They're back?

Excellent. I would live in merino if I could afford it, so I'm all for their return.

to each his own I guess. I love my Ibex Bib 3/4s...I especially like the wind-front knee. I've worn out two pair.

Crankles, this off-topic but I'd like to congratulate you on your 1000th post.

Hard to complain about the VCs shutting down company. If IBEX never made money they were going out of business anyway.

I live in merino. Yes. I. do.
I have a lot of Ibex clothing and was pleased to know the company revived because even an Ibex hoody wears out after a few years of daily use.

That said, the new Ibex product line is underwhelming. Just a few basics in boring colors. What happened to t-shirts in orange, green, sky blue, maroon? No hoody???? I don't get it.

The merino clothing landscape is busy these days, so other brands offer great substitutes....Wool&Prince, Outlier, Kitsbow, etc.

Nice piece of kit.

Have you checked out Wabi Woolens’ jerseys?

Happy to see them back, and I hope they restart their cycling clothing line. I've used their bibs, shorts, arm and leg warmers for years. They're super resilient and great in all temperatures.
