And it’s still unbelievably warm tonight. Pulled into the driveway 45 minutes ago after attending a concert. 67°F at 10:30 PM in Syracuse in January. I haven’t seen this in 55 years of upstate NY winters.

Second day of low 60s in Eastern MA WOOOT

Coated my bike and self in road salt yesterday, loved every minute.

Heading out on the muddy trails now, before it drops back down after lunch.

Ride on, my friends!! Enjoy!

Little bit of sun on my face from the slopes yesterday. Inversion early AM so spring snow up top and “firm” at the base. All loosened up by mid-morning. Perfect April day ... in January. I’ve always hated spring snow, but a day on snow is better than...

Raining off and on like mad this AM. Snow pack taking a beating.

Right down at the bottom of the old mine descent, there he was, walking. There is some interesting graffiti
update: old mine road descent perfectly, freshly paved.

Nice! Too bad I moved from NJ. Never wanted to ride that road given its previous condition.

This January must have been one of the warmest ever in NYC, if not the warmest. And the forecast for beginning of February is looking similar, with a high of 57°F on Monday.

It's been great for cycling, but my friends who ski have been disappointed so far.

I think we can now safely say that the answer is no. There hasn't been a real winter this year, at least in NYC.

In Europe, it's been the hottest winter on record by far: https://www.theguardian.com/environm...test-on-record.

Quote:
The unseasonal heat has led to the failure of the ice-wine harvest in Germany and snow having to be imported for sporting events in Sweden and Russia. In Helsinki, Finland, the average temperature for January and February was more than 6C higher than the 1981-2010 average. In the UK, serious flooding is likely to have been made worse by higher temperatures, as in 2015.

Our local ski resort is closing this weekend for the season.

Not an inch of snow in at my house.

Roads around here are in awesome shape for early March. It's like winter didn't happen. Oh, wait....

Plenty of real Winter here in Central New York, but it is fading fast now. Most of the snow in my yard melted this past week and should be gone by the end of this one. Roads in the valley are clear, but up in the hills and mountains they have plenty of cracks, heaves and debris still.
