Best Deals on Paceline

I guess this could go in the classifieds but then it would have to be sticky. Anyway, I think an archive of the awesomeness of Paceline should be on the front page. A little context, I came here for two reasons: pandemic info (way back in March) and because a kid at my gym was into bikes and claimed that he would find things for pennies on the dollar on this place called Paceline. I mean this kid worked minimum wage but rode a $10k bike. Let's honor the generosity of of our fellow forumites for posterity!

Today's best deal:

Hey, I resemble that remark!

One of the benefits of being vertically challenged is that I'm not tempted by every bike that comes along...

If I rode a 54 or 55 or 56, I'd have to be a lot more firm in my resolve.

That peg is exactly my size.

Shiyte!

I'm not very tall myself, by Dutch standards. And I was the shortest kid in class until 9th grade, boys and girls included. I'd trade an adulthood of average heightness for that Peg deal.

I don't know how I missed this when it was originally posted.
I'm on record as saying the only way I'd part with my Duende is if a Respo in my size came along … and there it was. Oh well.
(I love Mesonperso but I think I still prefer my Ethnic.)
Congrats to the lucky new owner.

A modest proposal ...

Ever since Clean39 began relentlessly flogging steel bike with steel forks as the conduit to "Cycling Nirvana" I've been smitten with that combination. These look great and seem like a killer deal:

https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=264798

https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=265482

Also, there should be fee or a commission attached to any steel bike frame/fork combo. Either Dan gets a small commission from the sale, or he has to chip in for the purchase of the the frameset.

Seems fair to me.

I prefer a market-based approach to this. I would call the "best deals" the ones that are sold within the hour. At the very least, they'd have to be sold within the day to be under consideration.

+1, the Rapha vest I bought has been pretty much everyday wear through the bay area "winter", and because Rapha calls it a "brevet gillet" (which I believe is French for "vest" that also comes with a French Middle School Diploma, or maybe it just means a "brief jacket" with the arms cut off, or something) so you know it's good--- and expensive. The prison stripe design was appropriate for joosttx's highway robbery price.

$50 for the feedback stand. That was philanthropic no doubt. We coulda met at the Joinery for beers and dirty fries but I could not motivate despite the patina.

I think I did well with the Time VRS from VirtualElvis--I admired it both times it traded hands before--this time I was on the fence and then he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

With a beer budget, I have to follow the trend about ten years on.

(It sits partially built--I'm waiting on a parts order....)

That one gets my vote for the deal of the year, to-date.
I was looking at it and hemming and hawing on whether the size was right and whether I needed another bike and then the price that he offered....

I still gripe about the Crumpton sold by Nick about 6months ago. I have been looking for one, and coincidentally that day, I was slammed with back to back meetings. Virtual meetings. Ones that weren’t as important as a Crumpton!

Anyways, by the time I logged in around 3pm, it had been sold, and with the painful reminder from a few people as they wrote “paging ddouglas’ !

$3500 is not pennies for a ‘used’ frame, but it was half price and essentially new.

Tears in my coffee this AM just thinking about it...
