Went thru the find a front mech with my Campy 10s setup recently.

48/36/24 triple, with a Campy 11s Athena front mech,
the derailer cage would hit the middle ring, when the mech
was set a the correct height, had to raise the mech, which made
for very fiddly setup, a B- functioning, would toss chains to the outside
or not shift to the big ring, depending on limit screws, no happy medium
available.

Same front mech with a 46/30 Sugino crank, ok shifting,
still would rub in the Big front, 2 biggest in the back.
Mech not happy with low bb on bike.

Shimano 10s GRX front mech, doesn't play at all
with Campy 10s, too much force is needed to move derailer.

IRD Sub-C front derailer, setup was easy, no dropping,
no rub in any gear combo. Hooray.
A worth CX-70 replacement.

Thanks Mark, I attributed it to the ti/carbon cages but will work on it a bit. Helpful advice!

Where are you guys finding all these small chainrings smaller than 39 teeth for Campy 10-speed doubles? I thought 39 was the smallest Campy made. Are you running 11 speed chain rings on 10-speed cranks?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Campagnolo introduced Compact (110mm BCD) cranks with 10spd groups, which allows chainrings down to 34 teeth.

Okay got it! I didn't realize the thread was talking Compact cranks. The BCD on my standard double appears to be more like 135 mm.

Aaaaaaaand it works. Updating my 1993 Extralight is almost complete: just waiting for a set of 23mm Dugast Strada tubulars and I'm ready to roll. Components are mostly from 2007 but 3ttt bars are NOS from the early nineties...

Like the stem coordination you got going on there!
Not always a fan of black components but to my eye this looks done right.

Thanks for posting this. Planning to run a 46/30 on Campagnolo 8 or 10 (TBD) and if the FDs I have wont cut it, I've now got something else to try (and it's silver, hooray!). On the test stand recently a 90s Athena was shifting 46/30 (no ramps/pins) pretty well, but turned out the (>1y old eBay "find") Racing T crank DS I was monkeying with had mis-tapped pedal threads (was "repaired" with backwards helicoil, thanks...). So I didn't get to actually ride it. Got another crank on the way to try.

Pardon my ignorance (again). What crankset is that on the Merlin Extralight shown? Looks pretty cool.

They're old (2004-ish) FSA Carbon Pro compact arms with 50/34 Stronglight CT2 rings and Tune titanium bolts and an FSA ISIS axle.
