Officine Mattio Lands in North America (OM1/Campy Super Rec)
Had a great trip into a bunch of factories and happened to get the chance to meet these guys...
Officine Mattio have been in the bike biz for a long time but are pretty unknown... They have a couple shops open in the US now. All italian build/paint, multiple custom models. The OM1 is a stock size, but still made there and priced competitovely with a lot of Italian stuff that isnt Italian stuff... AH... AND THE FAB SHOP ALSO HANDLES Ferari, Lambo and a few others GT body and suspension carbon work https://pezcyclingnews.com/technspec...alian-cycling/

Lovely, really like the slope in the fork crown.
Maybe it's too early but I just looked at the site of Serious Cycling, their local retailer per Charles's linked article (and a truly terrible name, IMO) -- the brand's not listed if you go into the "shop->bikes" section. |

I think the best option may be to order at Officine Mattio and have them get with the shops, but the shop owners are familiar... I was in Italy at Officine Mattio's HQ when they were both there. They may be rebuilding the site as I speak...

All frames made by Sarto from the best of my knowledge. Not a bad thing for sure!

It sounds like they are fully fabricated in house, but is that correct. I'm also curious how you think it compares to Sarto (Seta Plus for example, though I don't think you've had one of those), Crumpton (would be disc) and Parlee (Z0 disc). I'm a few years away from getting a carbon disc road bike, but I need a few years to overthink it and work on some metal bike project.
I'm also curious why mechanical instead of EPS on this project aside from big price difference between the two. |

Absolutely not. No frames are made for OM by Sarto at this point.

Full Record 12 with WTO 33 wheels. It was a religious experience for me. If you have a chance to try it, please do. |

That's a couple short sentences that would take 15000 words to clear up ... The Sarto's you're asking about are tube to tube custom and double the price. The Crumpton's are also Tube to tube and 50+% more. The Z Zero is tube to tube custom as well (and also double the price). Just no place near apples to apples... The full construct is different for the OM1... monocoque and stock size) Officine Mattio do a couple of tube to tube models that will absolutely go head to head with the bikes you mention though... OM's SL and SLX. Both will stand toe to toe with the models above. AND THEY COST WITH THE MODELS ABOVE... Having been in all the factories mentioned and most of the bikes mentioned (except the latest from Nick), the OM's SL and SLX have nothing to fear here. Ahead of the visit to OM's production, I thought (and still think) Parlee and Crumpton are the two most refined builders in custom carbon. They are very not alike in philosophy, They're different people, but they are also VERY alike in a lot of ways... And Officine Mattio's carbon capacity is now in that conversation. It wasn't always, but it is now. That's some lofty stuff... OM have ownership in their Carbon production, they are not buying from... They have a new Lemma model landing in a couple of weeks that is also Tube to tube (A photo of the Beta model is in the OM1 review). They're molding tubes in House (right next to the carbon aero bits for Lambo's GT series cars)... Man, this would be easlier if a lot of people here didnt know their stuff OH... And this is Mechanical because I like Campagnolo's mechanical kit... I have a Favaloro that will review shortly, and it's Mechanical Super Record Too... I've also been on the EPS (In GIrona at Campagnolo's last launch). It's excellent.

Having seen the SL in person it is lovely. Just class. NO obnoxious overbranding all over the bike.
I did not have a chance to ride it cuz it's too big. And it's not quite what I was looking for. I did go in thinking of looking at some Sarto's but then got Matt's download. So... fess up.. how was the ride Ron? |

My apologies......I was under the impression they had a role in their frames. Beautiful frames and a great read. Thanks for the info!

Not at all! There were a couple of bikes in the past made at Sarto.

Maybe the best part of campagnolo's stuff... I think the disc brake set up (across the range) is the quietest and best modulating stoppers on the market...
I think Campagnolo are the only ones building both pads and pistons for anti-resonance... Small detail, but they just work really well.

I was curious as to the different models, geometry, and pricing but I can’t get OM’s website to load.
Beautiful bike, makes me want to own a carbon bike |
