abso-friggin-lutely. and, well... it's just a Surly. nothing against 'em, of course; it's better than a $3k frame is all I'm saying! anyway, glad you're OK.

btw, here's a video of the "bridge" that better illustrates what the OP was dealing with. (I wasn't there, but saw this on IG.)

Send Surly the video, I bet they'd appreciate the footage/laugh and they might be willing to give you a better deal on the crash replacement!

Oh that's no bueno. Glad that you are OK!

Isn't the fun of cross the jumping on and off the bike though?

Exactly! The Surly is my beater bike intended for this sort of thing. If it was my fancy go-fast bike, I'd be more upset!

I think this is turning into an excuse to upgrade to an alu Zank frameset, so we can call this a win all around!

Ice Weasels is unsanctioned so pretty much anything goes.

Only equipment rules were no skinny tires in the fatbike race and no gears in the singlespeed category (but you can lockout your shifters with zip ties and ride).

Also, no beer before noon and no climbing/entering the abandoned insane asylum buildings on the grounds!

not for USAC races, only for UCI level races. USAC will generally allow whatever, you just can't race with bar ends on a MTB. same deal with tires, they don't enforce the 33mm max width that UCI does.

This is why I run

EDIT: Oh I see now. That's funny I have never seen such a thing in a CX race before, that ramp. I would most certainly have gone for that as well.

Ice Weasels is a unique New England event.

Lots of unique and challenging obstacles, good, fun, costumes, and great racing.

Last event if the year so almost anything goes.

There have been whiskey handouts, bacon handouts, donut handouts, cash, you name it.

I like the way you get up to rejoin the race and are like, F#&K!

Nice race all the same.

Contact Black Mountain to get a road+ frame, and just transfer over the parts.
