Check out my sweet crash video from Ice Weasels CX
Figured this would get some laughs among this group -- don't worry, I am OK, so you can laugh.
My Surly, well, not so much. Better to snap a frame than my collarbone, though. And I got the Style Award for my efforts! Ha. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrJS6jrg...d=qglhxyis927z Related, please share any recommendations for an off-the-shelf, reasonably priced frame that would be a suitable replacement for the Midnight Special? Ability to fit 650x47ish+ is a must have. I do not care about weight, really. |

SOMA makes good low cost CX frames for the quality and ride. You can pay a lot more and not get a better made frame.

I’m glad you are alright and a good sport about this.
As for frame replacement, the normally mentioned guys. Soma, Mr Pink, BMC, Gunnar and on and on |

Were you really attempting to bunny hop both of those barriers? They're pretty tall and really close together.

The guy in the red jacket is Rob, he is a great guy and one of my riding buddies. We all had a laugh as soon as it was clear that I was not dead/paralyzed/suffering broken bones and he went on to finish somewhere in the front 1/3 of the pack...after we started DFL since none of us had raced before this event! |

I successfully cleared it the first two laps, but effed up the third lap! It did not end well, as you can see. Then in the afternoon I rode in the fatbike race and cleared the bridge 3/3 (or was it 4/4?) times... |

Anybody that can share their own misfortune and embarrassment is alright by me!
And you've definitely got the right attitude; "better to snap a frame than my collarbone". Look at the bright side; you have a genuine excuse to get a new frame!

Awesome!
Ninja reflexes! You were super quick to get the elbows out and saved the face and didn't bunch the collar bone, equals win all day.
Sorry about the bike, not many people share their bloopers, glad you're ok. |

I raced Weasels Saturday also and heard the announcer say that someone had snapped their frame on the "bridge". Looked to be made of 2x6s or maybe 2x8s at the most so while i was intrigued I dismounted each lap. Glad you are ok

Getting right back on the horse, I am really impressed that you still rode the bridge again on your fat bike.
