My go to short socks! Out of favor (in terms of “fashion”) perhaps, but all I ride, except in winter! Not sure if Assos outlet still stocks them ...

I picked up a pair of SockGuy socks at Capitol Ref Natl Park and they're great. A bit thicker so they don't really fit with my road shoes, but I love them for anything requiring my SPD shoes.

A third fan of swiftwick here, was a long time supporter of defeet but they are too tall now and I am blessed (re: cursed) with my mom's 'cankles' and the current en vouge crew length often times don't even get above my ankle and am not a fan of the bunched up look. Swiftwick Aspires in 4" and 5" are a good tip.

Where are you finding Aspires in a 5" cuff? I thought they went from 4" to 7" with nothing in between?

Nothing new there - riders back in the 50s & 60s were wearing fairly tall socks. They certainly weren't the super tall socks we see now but there were a number of them that went well beyond the short ankle socks we saw in the 80s and 90s. Anquetil was quite partial to longer ones.

well, i thought I had 4" and 5"? Don't see them on the website anymore, but 5" is a choice on the cuff length, it just doesn't populate with anything..... go figure? i have all the solid colors of aspire 4's, then have some what I thought were aspires in "light" designs that are just a tad taller, so assumed they were 5" (definitely not 6" or taller). I'm not sure now which model the taller ones are now, none are on the website though.....one is black with old sky team blue stripes at the top, the other are neon green with black at the top-sound familiar?

Living in the highly humid Deep South I find the taller sock help wick away the sweat running down my legs and into my shoes. With short socks I’d often have a pool of sweat in my shoes rusting away my cleat screws. Things can get ugly at cleat changing time when that happens.

And yes, I grease every thing up.

Anyone find socks under $15.00?

NO PADDING thin and preferable to cool-max... a' la 6" Defeet Aireator

I have a pile of Swiftwicks that are great but what I don't love is that they are thin but then overly thick in the toes presumably for durability. They are fine in ATB shoes but not so much my current road shoes...some days worse than others. Sigh....I have problems like nobody.

Anyone got the deals?

I'm sticking with ankle length. No stupid tall tan lines for me.

I have bought 10 or 12 pairs of black fruit of the loom for a buck a pair at Walmart. If I need thinner socks, I have pearl Izumi ankle socks.

I've been rocking high socks for years. Sometimes they don't even match. Who would have known the pros would follow my lead.
