Shimano freehub body for Campagnolo Nucleon?
Hi everyone,
So I found this used Nucleon clincher wheelset locally but I am a Shimano man...can a Shimano freehub still be found for this wheelset? Thanks |

I went through this a few years ago, also with Nucleons. As I recall, the issue was whether the axle has cam-like lobes on it or not. Mine does and there were Shimano freehub bodies for Campy that would not clear that lobe. I had one of these and they seemed to be the type that were more available. I ultimately found one, made by Campy, that did. This was about 4-5 years ago but it was not difficult to find. As I recall, fellow Paceliner Old Potato had one of the non-fitting freehub bodies, but maybe he has one of these too. As you can see this is for 8/9/10. Another option that was considered was getting the other type of axle without the lobes that would accept the other type of Shimano freehub body.

with the reference you gave me I found this info:
The freehubs can be used interchangeably with the FH-BUU015 freehub bodies. For use with Fulcrum and Campagnolo wheels that use OS-type 17mm lobed diameter alloy axles. Replaces RS-013, FH-BUU015X, WH-KX890 Use in conjunction with HU9849 (FH-BO001) on hubs/wheels with non-cutout axles Fits post 2007 Campagnolo Bullet Ultra, Hyperon, Bora, Eurus, Neutron, Shamal and Zonda wheels, post 2007 Campagnolo Record hub. Fits 2015 onwards campagnolo khamsin and scirocco wheels with the correct axle. Campagnolo and Fulcrum road/gravel disc brake wheels Fits Fulcrum racing 1, racing 3. 2015 Racing 5 and 7 wheels, Fulcrum Red Wind XLR, Racing Speed, Racing Light, Racing Zero and Quattro Wheels. Remove your freehub and check the axle if unsure. If it's an alloy axle then this freehub will fit anything made campagnolo/fulcrum from 2007 onwards. |

The one I have that is pictured fit on my Nucleons. Again, mine have this lobed axle, and I am not sure if all Nucleons have this. I think mine is steel rather than aluminum so would fit either lobed or not. (See Old Potatoe's comments) But I would think the part number would indicate steel vs alu.

It IS but not shimano 11s compatible. If you want 11s, you'll need a new axle as well..

Isn´t 11s shimano and campy quite close in spacing? Why not just use a campagnolo 11s cassette and move it w/ shimano shifting? Campy guys have been doing it the other way around for years.

Campagnolo and shimano(and sram-yo) 11s spacing is so close as to be interchangeable. First time I saw 9000, at interbike, Wayne Stetina showed us how smooth it worked...and had a Campagnolo 11s Fulcrum wheel on their demo bike...he only told a few of us..everyone that had a Campag tattoo heard it tho..

Campy cassette cost is the usual complaint from Shimano users.

I'm seeing two different models.
Campagnolo FH-BUU015X1 or Campagnolo fh-bo015x1. Also see this one https://www.modernbike.com/fulcrum-c...settes-os-axle I'm not sure what I need. |
