I've got a 96 dekerf and a 90 brodie in the basement. Can't bear thought of selling them. Too much attachment to them. At least the dekerf is getting ridden again as a trailer puller. Brodie saw no miles this year.

I can at least rationalize keeping the moots as a bad weather bike.

If you really like it and don't need to sell it, I say put it on the wall where you can continue to enjoy it:

About to be that way with my Roadini. Love the ride but I want something with a lower front end & shorter chainstays - my riding has gotten aggressive enough in the time I've owned it that it's starting to limit me.

I'd sock it in the attic til my attitude realigns back with Grant's but I just can't justify having that amount of money tied up in a frame I don't ride. Oh well.

Based on what you would get for it if you sold it, that amount is not much.

When I moved from a house with a full basement into our current apartment, I went from six bikes and two frames down to three bikes and two frames, then back up to five bikes and a frame. And now I'm looking for/at another.

It would hurt a little to sell the '87 Bianchi and the Lemond Ti because I have the most miles and emotional connection with them, but I think I could let go of the others. Thing is, when I had a fleet of six in semi-constant rotation I ended up spending more time on maintenance than I cared to.

I often think about selling the entire lot aside from my Drifter and one mountain bike and not buying any others for at least a full year to see how I get along. It would likely be enlightening and rid myself of the crazy amount of bike related clutter I have accumulated. It would also simplify my decision therefore giving me more ride time and other avenues to put my energy into.

I think there is a certain "FOMO" on the Forum. At least there is/was for me. But you (speaking for myself) get to a certain point where the "chase" becomes everything. It becomes the end in and of itself.

2019 was the year of losing my **** in a bike buying sense. Eventually, instead of a feeling of anticipation and thrills, it became nausea inducing.

I have a few custom bikes in the works that I will be proud to own. And then I'm done.

Yes, it can be fun chasing bikes and related goods, but I used to spend more time on the bike. Life has changed enough with a now toddler and 15 year old who is involved in so many extra curricular activities that my time is a bit more limited. This has actually ramped up my hobby of buying and building up bikes, but limited my riding time.

I am pretty satisfied with my current crop of bikes. I would like to get rid of a couple of my Mountain bikes since that is probably the type of riding I do the least, but it is a blast when I actually get to go out on the local single track. I just don’t need four of them to enjoy it!

It’s funny because I used to live such a minimalist lifestyle. Bikes and real estate are the two things I spend the majority of my funds on. One makes me money the other spends it! I am pretty sure I will be paring down this year and making a few changes though.

Still wish I hadn't sold my 01 Concours that I got from this forum and which is now back on this forum.

We do a vintage ride in the Don or Durham every summer or so. Let’s put that Brodie to use!

Back on topic: we have a zero-sum policy here so if I really want something, something makes space for it.

I have a few bikes I really like but are very similar, so some of them should go. I keep putting off selling them because of the lousy current bike market. Maybe in the spring I will see if there is any interest.
