Thanks for that--I didn't know the story, but hiking in the PNW, Gore-Tex was an absolute game-changer. I still remember hiking the Pacific Crest trail--my brother had an early Gore-Tex jacket and I did not, and after 5 days in the rain I would have sold my soul to have the same jacket....
