I think a good chunk of their stock ended up on the randombikeparts.com website.

I would think that a light rider could be fine with a 20/20-hole wheelset, with a set of Novatec or Bitex hubs with a spare rim purchase making for a sub-$300 home-build.
But you could have bought a complete wheelset for about $170 at one point, I bought a few.

Yeah I wonder how that worked out.

I bought a pub/bitex front hub from them on eBay to match with a rear that I got from the house when it was near the end. Both were significantly less than just getting a bitex hub directly. It does have a pub logo on it but that’s ok.

Always wanted to experiment with something like this, my wish finally came true.
The rim came in 20h. I have a 32h WI front hub that I wanted to use.

Can it be done?

Yes it can!

I use the spoke length calculated off a 20h radial pattern.

Cliche pal, no need to feel bad, as the cliche goes, it may well be "blessing in disguise."

When I first started N+1, I kept checking the classifieds, set up ebay alerts, Craigslist etc. It was time consuming, and if I am being honest, sometimes counter-productive and can become addictive.

These days, I don't even worry about it, just continue to enjoy riding what I already have and if something pops up and I happen to be at the right place at the right time, I will grab it, if not, no biggie, back to riding as usual. This approach yielded better results and made me a happier camper.

Rims and hubs are still to be had at Randombikeparts. I ordered a set of 700s a couple months ago and they're still available. $99 per, though you might find a 20% off coupon.

Pub36 tl

was just cleaning up a bike which has the PUB 36 road wheels set up, which ride great thus far. Missed out on the deep discounted pricing but still got them for steal.

I noticed the text in the label decals shows 700 R / 36 / TL

And what do you know, these are tubeless compatible. Roadbike review even had an article with some good details, how did I miss that!

Has anyone set these up as such?
