Belt Drive SuperSix EVO - Now 5.82kg

Update:

I got impatient and threw some wheels on the bike to see what it looks like. And boy am I even more excited for the final parts to get thrown on there than I was before I threw the wheels on there.


I put my aero wheels on there. 60mm Boyd clincher rear with Powertap G3 built with DT Aerocomps (28spoke; two cross) 44mm Clincher front to Powertap hub also with Aerocomps (24; radial). Not exactly a light wheelset, once tires (a Pro4 Comp Service Course and a Schwalbe One), tubes (regular Q tubes, a 60mm and an 80mm), a dollar bill boot in one tire are added - the rear is 1400g, the front is 1007g.

That said, the bike as it sits right now is 6.34kg, which is a touch under 14lbs.

All that's left to add is the rear cog (claimed weight of 71g), some spacers (??), the belt (claimed weight of 95g), pedals (I use time Xpresso10s), bar tape, and cables/housing.

I'm working on tracking down some super low profile pads for my Zero G Ti Ciamillo brakes, because in the mean time I've got a set of markedly heavier Tektro R741s on there.

I anticipate going to Nokons or Jagwire Pro Link housing, which will continue to kill some weight, too.

Hope you figured out the beltline, or are you using a regular cassette freehub + spacers? The new CDX stuff is super finicky on belt alignment.

I'm running a DT Swiss 240s single-speed wheels on my Gates Carbon belt drive ebike. I think my build (4lb aluminum frame) was under 16lbs w/o motor & battery. It's now ~27lbs, but easily the fastest bike I own.

I hadn't even thought about that. Will have to dig something up. Will eventually once I've got it functional start going weight weenie on this baby. Might be a good time to find darker cranks.

BOOM.
It's set up. And it's working. Just gotta tape bars, dial in the brakes, and throw pedals on.







Will need to track down more permanent spacers, as I'm currently using some cogs from a cassette as spacers.

Also have a plan to make a custom headbadge for this bad boy.

Down the line I'm going to swap out the brakes, too. And hopefully build a wheelset dedicated for this bike.

The belt is on. There is not currently a bell on the bike, although there darn well may be a bell on here before too long.

Bike is completed and successfully ridden.

The bike weighed in at 15lbs on the nose.

Only ridden three or four miles on it so far. Crazy quiet and smooth. Will take a bit to get tension where I like it.
