i bought mine in 1997. 853 steel. rode it today for 25 miles in the finger lakes region - Canandaigua.

I just put 12sp & 32mm tires on mine. Last week, it served as a decent gravel bike, and today on the C&O towpath outside Harpers Ferry. So versatile.
