lacing 12mm thru axle @ front: are end-cap faces symmetrical?
first time lacing up a 12mm TA front wheel w/ std 100mm spacing. are the drop-out faces symmetrical with respect to the wheel/fork centerline? i'm assuming affirmative.
asking because...if everything is symmetrical i can just slide in a TA and nestle the wheel into the truing-stand cradle as if it were a QR hub... i.e., no need for special bits to get the hub end-caps centered in the truing stand. Last edited by wallymann; 01-26-2020 at 01:58 PM. |

yes, it's centered. I made a special holder for that, but at first I just used a metal rod through the TA. I have a TS-2, so a metal rod sits in the vees at the top of the stanchions just fine

I use these adapters on my truing stand. They're cheap, work great and look pro, and I'm a tool geek.

Those are nice looking adapters. I'll have to pick up a pair if I ever find a decent truing stand available on Craigslist.
I just built my first pair of wheels and used the frame/fork as a truing stand with zip ties as my gauges. I haven't ridden the wheels yet but I'm already having doubts about how 'true' I actually got them >< |
