Buying a used bike with internally geared hub

Got a friend interested in a used Linus Roadster Sport 3i which uses a Nexus 3 speed internal rear hub.

Never got one myself so not quite sure of what to look for when inspecting.

Any tips?

Thanks

Does it shift? Other than that, not sure what you’d be on the lookout for. I had a sturmey archer 3speed internal hub and it just needed occasional adjustment.

about 10 years ago bought my grown daughter an Electra with Nexus 3 speed internal gears. Basically bullet proof. as prior response just make sure it is shifting smoothly and quietly. once had to put a new tire on which involves removing the shift cable from hub. they are also some special color coded washes that need to be oriented in the dropout when reinstalling hub. the 3 speed shift cable is easily adjusted thru sight indicator at hub. if memory serves me correctly with shifter in 2nd gear indicator should be between two red lines. easy to google instructions. a great choice for the occasional recreational rider.
