OT Paint Wrap ?
OT Paint Wrap?
I have seen a few cars were the whole paint surface has been wrapped with a very thin plastic sheet. That can change the color or add depth to an existing color So why couldn't one wrap at least the mian tube, add new decals and good to go with a very nice looking bicycle? Charles |

It can be done but because bikes are mostly tubes, the seams are hard to hide.
Cars are easier because they are panels and they have edges and are easier to hide the seams. Plus wraps are kind of”heavy” BK

I think color changing PPF is pretty pricey, and the difficulty in wrapping a complete frame would be expensive. I'm not so sure water slide decals would even stick, and vinyl would look tacky. Nice idea, sort of like De Rosa Mica White paint, but probably more expensive than paint for a custom job that looked good.

velowraps is one good example
complex curves do indeed make it challenging. But with time and patience, it can be done. With the right plan of attack, 3M knifeless tape can make seams nearly invisible.
These are some carbon Zipp Contour bars that I wrapped to match the carbon weave of my TIME. I've also used vinyl wrap to hide the graphics on a Vision Metron 5D handlebar. Vinyl wrap is cheap enough to play with and won't damage paint. Give it a go! Lots of videos provide great tips and info. Justin Pate does amazing stuff. |

Semi wrapped framw
I have a carbon frame of which had 3 separate colors patterned into the base carbon material. 2 of the colors I .did not care for. Was able to source some vinyl car wrap material in a preferred color...........some time, patience and some new exacto razor knife blades and I was able to cover the 2 undesired colors to give the frame a new look.
From 3 feet away you can’t tell that it’s not the original OEM paint scheme....... As far as wrapping an entire frame, it can be done, but as previously noted, there will have to be seam marks at some points. Just no way around that part..... |

ive recently been thinking about trying spray on plastidip on a bike. there are some great youtube vids and some very cool results. peels off the paint later similar to wraps, but no seams
