Rapha Store NYC - anyone else have negative, and pompous experience?
Walk up to Rapha store on Prince looking for tights that are lighter weight than thermals.
'Greeted' outside, with contemptuous once over by someone who appears to be a sales associate. I walk in. A different associate tells me they only have thermal tights, which I do not need. I look around store at other clothes, in particular winter jerseys. Contemptuous associate rolls over: "Can I help you?" "Yes, looking for tights that I don't think you have but I thought I saw on the site." "Tights? Are you here for cycling?" Then my blood boiled. "I'm in the Rapha store, but I'm here for rock climbing and poetry" And then I left. I'm not one to usually complain but, have others had this sort of experience there? Thanks Last edited by elb1974; 10-17-2021 at 04:16 PM. |

Always had a great experience there. Couple of super nice baristas and sales people were always nice to me too. Been 2 years since I been there though, since covid hit and I have not really been back to the city.
But hey maybe dude was having a bad day, happens to all of us |

An LBS has a dive bar vibe. No cappuccino, just wrenches. I can dig it.

couple years ago before the world went mad, i was in the area and walked in. staff was very friendly. i just pretended i had no idea what the store was, and one associate chatted me up and explained what was what. i admired the merchandising, whoever did the design/build did it very well. if i recall there was a vintage bike in there on display, maybe a 7-eleven/huffy/serotta.
that said, the far better experience was around the corner at pinch chinese. holy smokes that was good. if you're in the area and it's still open, which i sure hope is the case, 2 thumbs up. |

I had to Google Pinch Chinese. Never been to that area myself. Pictures look absolutely 100% authentic and top notch.

Been to the NYC Rapha and had a great experience. Actually went every day for about 3 days to have a coffee and chill. I would let that one-off experience slide.

I had to google that too. Now I gotta make that a destination when I visit NYC again.
