I couldn't find this online, so I did a scan and thought I'd post it:

Been there many times . . .
. . . and the carriage roads are great. Some are not in great shape, particularly around the south (back) side of Lake Awosting. You also have to watch carefully if you go over to the Mohonk side since some trails are bikes prohibited and the signs are not always obvious. Plus you have to be careful of permit requirements. It's $10 per car to park at Minnewaska and that's all you need, but a separate permit is officially needed for the Mohonk side and I'm not sure how carefully they enforce that.
There's also a back way in on a very steep carriage road/single track trail that comes up the east side of the ridge from Aumick Road and connects on the east side of Lake Awosting near the stone beach area. It's not on any of these maps. There's also the Smiley Carriage Road which goes down the west side of the ridge into the Ellenville town park. It's also not on these maps and has been officially under reconstruction the past several years and signed as closed to bikes. I'm not sure if there are plans to reopen it to bikes or not. But if it is reopened, then you could park in Ellenville and ride right up the mountain. Here's an album of pics of a ride I did with AngryScientist and a few other Paceliners in December 2017: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kRAAGtAAeFovk9vd2 If you go in mid-June the mountain laurels will be in bloom and it's spectacular!: https://goo.gl/photos/tqQ8i1Zc3TWZ2my46 Fall is also great. Here's a couple of albums from autumn: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zeIzIDoEm65B4oW52 https://photos.app.goo.gl/caonK6vAqOpJ5n5y1 BBD

I think another Paceline group ride is in order in this area! I've been meaning to get up there for a ride but keep putting it off. Maybe a spring get together when the Mountain Laurel is in bloom?

Yes, last time we were in minnewaska the weather in December was just bearable. A spring ride would be nice and we can cover more ground and gravel. Looking forward to going back!!

I am DEFINITELY in . . .
. . . for this one! Just keep in mind mountain laurel blooms in June, not spring.

Thanks for posting. Always wanted to check out the area as I see some great pics on Instagram. It’s less than an hour away, so no excuse not to go this summer.
I’d be down for a Paceline ride if others are thinking it. |

I admit that I've never ridden the carriageways at Minnewaska, and I'd like to give them a try. Are there any that are too rough for 28mm tires?
