Anyone running AXS (2x) w/ non axs chainrings?

I have Rival AXS with some SRAM 11 speed rings, 46/34 with the flat-top chain and it works alright. I had one outward chain drop but I think my FD needs an adjustment.

I'm curious about this as well. I want to run my Praxis Zyante Carbon crankset with the Levatime II 48/32 chainrings with AXS.

Praxis makes 10/11/12 speed compatible rings. Can use with flattop chain. I have read so many different opinions on this in the past. IF and when I go AXS I'll be using praxis rings or carbon ti 110bcd rings.

I've used Campy Chorus 12, GRX 11and GRX 12. 12 speed is the best option.

Running Campy 36/52 on one AXS bike and Shimano rings 36/52 on the other with no issues. Running Red with the Campy and Force on the Shimano. I found the Red fd easier to set up with Campy compared to the Force on Shimano but I think that comes down to Force being fussier. Both groups are from D1 era.

One of the least talked about but best features of AXS is the gearing. Compare a Shimano or Campagnolo set up you might be considering and you'll probably have a greater range or more efficient ratios with AXS. https://www.gear-calculator.com
You might be able to make non-AXS rings work but I don't know why you would... "because you can doesn't mean you should"

I run Sram Red AXS shifters and derailleurs on non-axs Praxis chainrings and Dura Ace cassette using a non-flattop chain. No problems with the setup and shifting thus far (~3,500 miles), other than the occasional chain drop when shifting the front derailleur.

some ppl have expensive cranks.. SRMs carbon in my case. Id rather re-use then buy a new set.

I'm using the Praxis Buzz 48/32's with AXS, had a few chain drops until I managed to get everything adjusted correctly.

I use other brands to get a 16-17 tooth difference at the crank. A 46/30, 48/31 or 48/32 is far better for the hills and mountains that I ride. There are also many reports of the force D1 RD being hard to setup that I suspect are really problems with poor shifting ramps on the chain rings. I've done 15 setups and never had problems with Campy or Shimano cranks.

I tried Specialties TA 44/28 chain rings and they didn't shift well. I put the Shimano 46/30 chain rings back on and all was well again.

I'm using 12 speed GRX 46/30 cranks now, along with 10-44 cassettes for a 675% range.

I couldn't get my front der shifting correctly with chain drops on both the inside and outside depending on limit adjustments. This is with Force d2 ft der, Red AXS arms, Quarq d-zero, extralite 50-34 rings and a Shimano 8100 chain. Tried everything to get it to work but the chain would just keep dropping. Moved to Force AXS 48/35 rings and flat top chain and it works perfectly.

Mine (Sram Red AXS FD) was working fine with non-flattop chain and Praxxis Buzz chainrings, but it went to crap when I switched them out for Extralite chainrings. I think the shifting on Sram Red AXS FR is finicky enough on the stock configuration and it would be difficult to re-configure it another way. I went back to Praxxis Buzz and it's been working well since.
