I raced on hutch bear trap pedals in the early 80’s and have the scars to prove it. Along with a few “trophies “ 😂

I think Canfield used to make some really beautiful ones called ‘Crampons’ or similar. I have a set of Crank Bros for a rainy day to ride every once in a while - I stick with my Times though.

That said, I don’t think these are made in USA, they’re they are designed here...

one of my buddies almost completely severed his achilles tendon when one of those pedals hit it in a jumping crash. It was super gnarly.
