Northeast Ohio used to have a really cool Covered Bridges ride. It used to hit I think like 14 or 15 bridges.

The county in the US with the greatest concentration of covered bridges is Parke county Indiana. It has 31. This county is west and a little south of Indianapolis near the Illinois border. I vaguely remember they have or had a century ride with a route that went through many of the bridges. One of the challenges for doing that ride before gravel or fatter tired bicycles became popular is that many of them are located on dirt roads.

I think it's the ground level shot of rows of green crops - that's not lettuce!

Beautiful ride - socially distanced (solo)?

PA?

Curious where this was...
Bucks County, eastern Pennsylvania.

Edited to add: My mistake. This wasn't Bucks but Lancaster, as Angry posted below.

great pictures! is the bridge in pictures 4 and 5 in the Plumsteadville/Pipersville area? looks like a bridge I have ridden through many times. my grandparents use to have a farm in that area. such peaceful/tranquil rides like 25 years ago. your pics bring fond memories.

One of the local bike clubs here in Bucks County, does a covered bridges ride (almost, not 2020) every fall, metric century with 5 or 6 bridges. Great riding for those local-ish. https://www.cbbikeclub.org/covered-b...d-bridges-ride They also publish the routes on ride with GPS as well. I routinely go by a couple in my rides. Nice pics @Angry!

Thanks guys. The route was phenomenal. Good condition pavement the whole way and nice gently rolling terrain. This was the “classic” 100km route; but there is a 100 mile option that I’m definitely going back to do.

Here’s the route I did

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/24293677

Starting in Lancaster area (though I rode the loop starting at the far end to be closer...

Anyone up for hitting up the full hundo sometime soon??

Oh - That's part of the Lancaster Covered Bridges Century. Very popular ride - some say getting a little too crazy lately (rider mahem) last I heard, but very nice.

Yea; I wouldn’t want to share these roads with hundreds of other riders. Much better solo or with a small group.

Feels deeply responsible and the right sentiment to respect the travel restrictions. There's been a lot of buzz throughout this period about the number of folks sheltering in VT. I realize this isn't novel, but it's an interesting question... Overall, I feel like our governor is on the ball in adjusting bit-by-bit, now opening by county in nearby states (deeming some safe for travel based on the rate of COVID).

More on-topic...
for the riding itself, I've been aspiring to get lost, taking turns on roads I've never pedaled before and navigating on instinct and with my phone/GPS-watch. I've enjoyed getting lost and found some beautiful (and challenging) routes (e.g. a 14% dirt road climb (per MapMyRide) that kicked my @$$).

Beautiful pics! I grew up sorta around the area but didn't really appreciate the beauty until I left. I guess that's usually the case.
