just bought this today from belmont wheelworks. id placed an order late last night with bikyle, but given my expectation that they won't be able to fulfill it due to Gita's freeze on orders, i asked them to cancel it and went to the shop (i only found out today that they were a dealer, pretty convenient).

Marcelo Thelonius Monk

I sold this some time ago, now I wish I had kept it.

RIP Dario.

Fixed gear from the Maestro in 2011. Met him at NAHBS that year. Wonderful man. Life is so unfair.

I did not know this!

Being bigger than the average jockey size pro-rider, I have always said that was my favourite Tour stage ever. Riding into Gaiole in Chianti on a Hampsten tour in 2015 I briefly met Eros Poli who was driving a black Mercedes wagon as part of his own cycling tour group. Andy introduced to me to him and I told him his was my favourite Tour stage- he shook my hand and gave a big smile.

I also have a Duende which (although I fear it is a touch too big) I have always loved. Although I never met Dario, I have also always loved and admired his work, his obvious intelligence, curiosity, sense of humour, taste in amplifiers (valve) and bass players (Jaco Pastorius).

To make that extra connection between Eros Poli and Dario is just wonderful- thanks.

It seems strange to be upset about the untimely death of someone halfway across the world you don't know (tragedies happen all the time), but I have been as upset about Dario as I would be if someone close to me had gone too early.

The personal recollections of Dario and his personality which have been shared here in recent days have also been brilliant. Thanks everyone.

Grazie Dario.

All these crazy nice Pegs popping up that Ive never seen - aside from the sad fact that Dario has passed on, I love this thread, as it shows some amazing bikes. The paint on the Thelonius one is just great.

I need to find one at a garage sale now!

Not picking an argument with your statement, but all of these remembrances and tributes are bringing me to a different point of view. I didn't know him, but I know of him as a man who lived the heck out of life, and inspires me to do more with my life.

Excellent bike btw.
