Woodbury Common has an Arcteryx Outlet store. The stuff there can be dirt cheap. It can't be far up 87 for you.

there's really nothing like Shake Dry for wind and water resistance.

That said, it is indeed wind and waterproof so you don't need much under it to stay warm

That was going to be my question-is shakedry permeable enough? I have one that I've actually never worn, bought it when sierra tp had them last year for 49 bucks, couldn't pass it up, but never needed it for cycling. Might go out in the 40s with it rather than the habu to try it, but I'm so happy with the habu that I haven't brought myself to do it.

For running I've never found anything that was an actual shell that was breathable enough.

Unless it’s raining, I found jackets unnecessary for running even in below freezing temperatures. Base layer is key - I really like the one made by Craft with windstopper in the front.

Update: Gore R3 Jacket rocks.

Just got back from a 5 miler, it's about 38F here. I wore a light merino baselayer and the jacket and was comfortable.

Good to know! I went for a hike and made the mistake of wearing cotton! I’ll be def investing in some Gore gear!

Their ShakeDry cycling jacket is awesome! Even if it’s not raining!

Hah, speaking of short, I pulled out my '80's Scott Tinley running briefs, and I mean brief. They cover your junk and are slit up the sides to the waist band. Told my wife I'd was going to wear them again when I loose the next 20 pounds. She was very vocal in her disagreement.

Totally agree with this, I don't wear a jacket unless its raining even down to 0F,
Im also a fan of Craft and highly recommend them.
I had a shakedry and shredded it after one 30 mile trail run wearing a vest.
Shakedry is ok if running shorter distances up to about 12-15 miles where i can just carry a bottle.
I now wear a Gore jacket if i'm doing a long run with a vest(Ultimate Direction race vest). Gore jackets can be found very cheap at Sierra most times.

Depending on the weather and how cold; I choose 1 of 2 jackets.

For a little warmer weather in the cold, Patagonia Houdini Windbreaker
https://www.patagonia.com/product/me...ket/24142.html

For colder weather, Outdoor Research Deviator
https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/produ...ie-jacket-mens

The OR jacket has Polartec® Alpha® material in the front, super light weight fill but super warm made for special forces. The arms, sides and back are Polartec® Power Dry® that is highly wicking.

I really like the OR jacket but can get warm, but can end up just wearing a short sleeve shirt underneath.

I have something like that OR jacket from North Face, but it hasn't been cold enough for me to run in it

I've been running in a North Face 1/4 zip 'sorta windblocking' fronted, fabric rear 'jersey' (for lack of a better word) lately. I get so hot running that I don't need much up top

I get that way riding too, but there's more windchill riding so I wear just a bit more

Just another update that the Gore R3 continues to be a great jacket. Snuck in some miles outside today. About 33 degrees and really wet/damp but not raining and was totally comfortable with a merino baselayer and the gore. good stuff.

After quite a bit of time off due to some life stuff, time to claw some fitness back!

While too late since you've already found something, I purchased this from Voler last month for cycling. So far I've only used it for running and it's turning out to be perfect for temps in the mid 20s - upper 30s depending on base layer. Above that I really don't need a jacket. Haven't tried for anything colder.
