When I was a kid I used to LOVE when the Sears Xmas catalog would come, only the toy section..of course. You can view archived versions here:

Interesting Performance/Serotta branded frame on ebay. I don't recall that style of seat post binder on other Serottas, but the rest of the details resemble Serottas from the period.

Bought my first pair of cycling specific shoes from Nashbar. Mailed in my order form with a check and had to wait for the check to clear before they shipped my order. Man, how far we've come since then!

Correct. They were and still are based in Ohio. Girard Ohio.
Nashbar was based near Youngstown Ohio, Canfield to be specific.

I don't remember Performance offering this at all. A buddy has an older Italian built one. Nice looking frame.

I always enjoyed the Bridgestone catalogs from back in '80s / early '90s...

Non-cycling, Marmot Mountain Works put out some good catalogs as well.....

Ah, Branford Bike. They had parts I saw nowhere else. I remember calling the guy (just looked it up, Tim Brockett) and going through my shopping list, item by item, with questions answered as needed.

A very satisfying shopping experience.

Nashbar and Colorado Cyclist, but the real gem to me was the coveted Mountain Bike Specialists. I still have a couple around here somewhere.

Mountain Bike Specialists is a new one to me. There’s always something new to learn about here.

Kudos to all of your who kept your catalogs. I regret tossing mine but I don't save anything. I go all the way back to the newsprint Nashbar and Supergo catalogs of the '70's. Not mentioned yet; anyone remember Lickton's Cycle City (sp)?

I live in CT and used to ride my bike from Meriden down to Branford Bike when they were in Tim's Mom's basement, and later when they moved to Main Street.

One time my friends and I rode down there to oogle and buy. On the way home, I stood out of the saddle and it handled sorta funny. We stopped, I examined my bike, and found nothing wrong. We rode on. A couple miles later, same thing. Look again; my fork was separating from the steerer! I rode it GENTLY like that for another 10 miles, while my friends rode home and someone returned to pick me up.

Another time, I was going to ride down there from North Haven, after work, to buy some spokes. Leaving work, I was doing a track stand while a tractor trailer in the parking lot moved out of my way. My foot caught my front fender and broke it. Oh well; it shouldn't interfere with my plans so I rode on. Several miles later, I broke a spoke on my rear wheel. Now the wobbly rim was rubbing my brake pads and I had no way to fix it, so I canceled my ride to Branford Bike and took a left turn and began the 15 miles or so home, with the blip blip of the brake pads punctuating my ride. Shortly, as I was approaching a train crossing, I see a snake stretched out across my lane and I could not avoid him- THUMP THUMP!

Fook it; I've had enough bad luck today. I thought "Gee; as I'm riding through Wallingford maybe my friend Ken is home and he'll give my a ride home. Well not only was Ken not home, he was just driving down the street heading somewhere. I flagged him down and ended my ride of misery.

I eventually rode down there and bought the spokes...

True story: When I was in high school (74-78), my friend Larry had a Sears catalog where, in the men's underwear section, was a photo of a man wearing briefs, and tip of his Johnson was peeking out from one leg! That catalog HAS to be a collector's item!

Here are some scans from the 1988 catalog. The ones I have are '86 and '87, as they are completely black and white.
