2022 Los Angeles Invitational (Everyone's invited) 5/14 - 5/15
Yao! 5/14 - 5/15 is a big bike weekend if you're in the Los Angeles area. Saturday if you wanna ride, Sunday if you wanna swap and show your hoopty. Details below. I HIGHly suggest you come out for this; events put on by Team Dream/Cub House are always a hoot.
https://www.losangelesinvitational.com/2022 ![]() Saturday May 14, 2022 Three self supported gravel rides through Southern California's Angeles National Forest. All three options are about 50% dirt 50% paved, but vary in length and elevation. These trails and roads are open to the public so be safe, and be respectful of the beautiful mountains we get to ride in. All rides leave The Cub House - 2510 Mission St. San Marino, CA - at 7am. For full, up-to-date, event details visit the Bike Reg site. Sunday May 15, 2022 Join us for the 5th Annual Bike/Car Show & Swap Meet at The Cub House on Sunday after the ride. The show runs all day from 10am-5pm with food from YELLOW PAPER BURGER and PIZZANISTA. 2510 Mission St. San Marino, CA |

Bummed to be missing the rides on Saturday but I'll probably cruise up on Sunday and check out the swap.

Doing the Triple Scoop. At least that’s the plan until I see how hot it is. Should be on my Atlantis.

I expect that your Atlantis will fit right on this ride. Good luck, wish I could make it.

Finished the Triple Scoop yesterday (slowly) — 8,386 feet of climbing in 65 miles according to my Garmin. Some of the dirt sections were gnarlier than I was expecting, but I just walked those. Great vibe with all the riders and well organized. Beautiful wild flowers in bloom. No flats, no mechanicals, didn’t run out of water, had low enough gearing — all good. The Crust Bikes crew stuck it out till the end of the day at the final aid station with cow bell, inflatable palm tree, burritos, and cold drinks for everyone who made it. Definitely recommend for next year if you missed it this year, although I’d say go for the Double Scoop

Today is the car/bike show and swap meet. I have a soft spot for old VW’s because my parents drove a squareback and a bus when I was a kid and I drove my dad’s 1971 bus through high school. Gear shift lever was about four feet long.
