The aluminum Crux is back!

After several years, Specialized has bought back an alu Crux, and it's only priced at $2600 w/ 12sp SRAM Apex.

This is the type of product/pricing the bike industry should focus on to get more people into the sport. The Crux was my own intro to serious biking, and I'm glad to see it return.

Yes you can run a front der on the Crux DSW, They will need to be a band clamp style.
Yes, the front der can be mechanical.

Nice to see a quality aluminum frame. I've had a couple of specialized aluminum hardtails plus an s-works tricross. All were solid bikes that rode very nicely. Might have to grab a a frameset. At $1,700 it's not cheap though.

Smart move. A 2600, complete gravel bike is a good thing to have in Spec's lineup.

Lots of people buy into a brand at the low end and stay a fan for life, buying up the chain as they get a little more spendin money and develop in the sport.

While it can use a band clamp front derailleur, it looks like you will be limited to which derailleurs can be used. There appears to be no BB cable guide, just a housing port on the back of the BB shell, which means that you must run full housing to the front derailleur. Only Shimano currently makes front derailleurs that can run full housing (not SRAM or Campagnolo). (There also appears to be a wire port for electronic front derailleurs.)
