When people ask me that on a cl item I've got listed, I just repeat the asking price, along with "cash only." Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

It depends, Bud. There are plenty of tire kickers and buyers with unreal expectations or just difficult that can be sniffed out by the questions they ask. I do not know what you are asking but perhaps you are sending the wrong message to the seller by the questions you ask.

Pinkbike sellers have been super flakey IME. No problems with CL though. Yes the response rate is low for cheap stuff, but >$100 the sellers get more reliable.
Like selling there for the convenience. |

theres a weird lack of sense going on out there that i dont remember experiencing in decades past..
case in point, met a kid yesterday to sell a saddle - conditions of sale listed as "$100, cash only, pickup in nob hill" last minute wants to meet "in the middle," even though the "middle" he picks is like a mile from me.. whatever. doesnt have cash... also, whatever- we can use my gf's venmo. then hes standing there flipping the saddle over and over in his hands looking at it in silence for a long period of time and finally says "so maybe $80?" "it's $100." "yea, uh, but it was made in 2017" "it's.... $100." "um, ok, i guess.. was just trying to haggle" nah dawg, the time to haggle is before you claim it. anyway, he paid me and that was that.

I too think some people dont look at their pinkbike account as often as some of us do. Specially when selling a bike/bike part.... I never check it if I dont have anything Im personally selling.
