Can this pedal be fixed? Shimano SPD mountain XT
The washer and bolt that hold the springs are missing.
The last picture is the other side with intact bolt and washer. I did this 6 months ago to a 20 year old pedal. The bike shop said it could not be fixed. But just repeated the damage to a new right and left pedal. (equal opprotunity for pedal strikes). The left today and the right Wednessday. |

Unfortunately, Shimano does not offer the parts you need from their online parts list. Best bet is to see if you could find a used pedal or cannibalize a broken pedal for parts.

I usually just buy some iSSi pedals. They come in fun colors

My experience of riding fixed off road is you have to try really hard to do that to a pedal! How did you manage that?

Pedal strike
Quote:
One pedal was a pedal strike. The other was a crash. As I was falling I was trying to release my shoe from the pedal. |

I occasionally swap parts from one broken pedal to another to save just one of them. The springs have to be held in alignment near the screw as the "assembly" is placed into the pedal body while the pin gets reinserted. Not sure how one of these springs could become dislodged unless it broke, or if the pivot screw drifted out. |

I think these will work for donors. If you want them send me a PM and I can send them your way.
