Tell me I am not the only one..

So I am rebuilding my dads Serotta Hors.
In the pursuit to do it right I have pivoted a few times on components.

During off time waiting for 7800 parts I decided not to use as I found a demo set and replace my daughters Trek Madone 4.5 from an older clunky gobbled together 10/11 speed triple groupset.

She is strong enough now to ride a 10speed double and don't need the triple anymore.

in the pursuit of parts I ended up buying a complete Kestrel as it had a bunch of parts I wanted.

That lead me to trade a bunch of parts for a set of Ultegra Di2's which I plan on upgrading my wife's LIV Advanced 1 to Di2.

I am now debating if I should use the 6800 Ultegra set I removed from the LIV and put it on the Trek Madone 4.5.

Oh did I mention I now have a set of WH-7700 and WH-7701's as part of the color swap/ 7700's are deep green and 7701 are black. The 7700 come with a pair of NOS rims.

You're not...

I'm currently sitting on:

DA7900 group w SRM PM
Campag Chorus 10 silver group
Campag Chorus 11 carbon group w Stages PM
Campag Record 11 silver/carbon group
Campag SR12 group w 4iiii PM

And only have two frames hanging, one of which is for sale.

The SR12 group is ostensibly for my next Kirk that I haven't pressed "go" on yet...... and the Record 11 may go back on my Sachs when it's ready to rebuild, but I may want 12 speed on that one too.

The others are sitting there tempting me to get another frame - and why not? I have the parts...

And let's not talk about tires, tubulars, handlebars, or wheels. I can't take it. Not on a Friday.

I am not going to even list loose stuff here, but yeah.. Guilty.

But I gotta ask, what in the world is going on with the bars on that Kestrel?? ;O

Currently sitting on a silver Centaur/Potenza group, as well as the all black chorus 12 group I took off Dan’s Kirk. That is not to mention multiple vintage super record and record groups. Or wheels, or handlebars.

One of these groups will go on my incoming Gilmour And I’d like to have the option to use a silver or black group depending on the paint scheme I go with.

I also think that I’ve developed a scarcity mentality as I’ve watched parts become less available and more expensive. I think I’m holding onto stuff just in case the worst case availability scenarios come true this spring and summer and we can’t get parts or they become costlier.

The are fewer things better than the warm fuzzy sensation of having spare groupsets. I’m not sure how many I have but it’s at least 3.

I usually keep them on spare frames. It's easier to keep all the small bits in one place.

Which reminds me...I sold the Raleigh Team Pro frame *years* ago without ever building it up. I probably should sell the C Record grouppo I put together for it...or at least find a frame to store it on.

@robt57
There was a bubbling that started so I did a spot sanding to see and it was easy enough for me to want to sand the whole bike. And sooo I plan on doing the whole bike.
I am just having some problems getting the dam fork out.

Someone on here was selling some shifters that were a good deal and i thought i'd probably need in the future.

Somehow, a little while later I ended up with a whole bike I didn't need built around those shifters.

It's hopeless even when you start small.

I don't even want to think about it.......

But if I do....lets' see....off the top of my head....

two Dura Ace 7400 setups
one Dura Ace 7700/7800 setup
one Ultegra 6600 triple setup
two campy record 10 speed setups

at least half a dozen wheelsets from 6 speed to 11 speed, clincher to tubular

a pie safe cabinet full of spare parts

a jelly cabinet full of spare saddles, tires, bottle cages

a bike cave full of "spare" bikes....like 30ish.....

and only the beautiful Olmo frame to build up.

It all started with buying one spare steel bike to have on hand after an accident shattered the seatstay on my Trek Madone......

If you got rid of some of that useless furniture in the first pic you'd have more room for cycling stuff.

I might have a problem, butt at least I don’t have a “pie safe full of neatly organized parts” level of problem.

Wow, I'm jealous. I have 5 bikes but my wife says if I buy one than one has to go because we don't have anymore room. Guess I could move the bed out!!
