Visiting mother-in-law and brother-in-law near Maryville, TN. Got a late start but had a beautiful ride. 57 miles and 3,000 ft of elevation gain. Most all of the drivers were extremely pleasant and passed with plenty of room on some narrow roads. Beautiful state!

End of the Davis 600k.

I wished I'd take more pictures. Feather River Canyon is absolutely stunning and the water levels were insanely high this year. The wildflowers were in full bloom too.

An 8PM start means riding straight through the first night which is pretty surreal once you get out of Oroville. The ride tops out at 5000' elevation at Antelope Lake Dam which is the turnaround.

Finished in 24 hours and 26 minutes. Shaved over 4 hours off of the last time I did this route in 2012, although I had the benefit of a derailleur this time around. It's also a PR for me on this distance.

RudeAwakening pal, this is uber impressive. Does your bike get tired from all that distance and hours on the saddle?

lol. No. Up until a 400k 2 weeks ago, I hadn't ridden this bike since 2015!

I was riding with a fellow who had done this course in 23 hours in 2014. I'm pretty sure I slowed him down.

Was going to meet a coworker for a trail exploration ride but his neighborhood was closed off because of a gas leak. So, I went solo. We've been having a thick marine layer for the past few days. Basically that means low lying clouds. As you can see in the 3rd and 4th pics, I was basically at the level of the cloud coverage. This ride was the coldest and most humid ride I've been on in the almost 4 years I've been in California. Sweating my a$$ off with cold hands. Ha!

Tuesday nights at PIR are in full swing. Pretty cool that I can take public transportation to the race, have a ton of fun making moves off the front and getting outsprinted at the finish and then ride the 12 miles home all before it gets dark. Gotta love summer in the northwest!

This is the view at the end of every ride I do that starts at the house. Never ceases to amaze me as I roll to a stop next to the rain water reservoir and see our garden and the mountains across the valley. Over 20 years of work to create but my wife isn't complaining. (The garden, not the mountains. The mountains took a little longer I think.) The second picture was shot later in the evening after watching the moon rise with a glass of wine in my hand and my wife and I staring out the windows at the spectacle. Finally shook myself and thought maybe I ought to go get my camera.
