Help with water bottle holder
Do you know where I can get these rubber inserts to secure my bottles?
What’s the name of these grommets? Last edited by corkycalvin; 10-17-2023 at 11:24 AM. |

Another more expensive option is getting bottle cages that don’t allow bottles to eject such as Arundel mandible and Dave o.

That’s true but if I can locate these rubber grommets, I can use any bottles which I’m hoping for. Thanks

I think I might have some on some old cheep carbon cages that I’ve never used. I can let them go REALLY cheep.

As an alternative to that likely hard-to-find part, I'd be you could lay consecutive beads of silicone caulk that would likely provide sufficient grip.
They also make silicone caulk in black for vehicle rubber trim, available at your local car parts store.

how about these big fat rubber bands?
One of these bands is included with each Specialized ebike range extender battery. It is used to ensure the batter does not come out of the cage holder when biking over bumps. In this case the band goes around the battery and the bottle cage. But the band fits nice and tight so you could simply wrap it around your skinny bottles and thereby prob keep them in the cage:

I continually question how bottles and cages can be such a challenge for many.
Is it because a lot of people have really specific preferences for their bottles and ages, and the combos don't work well? The amount of time and money spent on cages is bonkers. Some stainless cares cost $25, don't mark bottles, hold bottles perfectly, and can even be squeezed to shape if for some crazy reason they get out of round. The rubber edging is a neat solution, but it's a neat solution to an issue that is easily avoidable in the first place. |
