Dokter Clemens Spiekermann fears its the end of her career...

https://www.tag24.de/nachrichten/sac...nrad-dm-688448

Spiekermann, her team manager but also a doctor for 40 years, is quoted saying that chances are very slim that Kristina will ever get on her bike again.

That's horrible. So sorry to hear that.

At this point given the radio silence, I'd be happy to hear she can walk again, much less race or ride.

My thoughts EXACTLY. Screw the bike. I want to hear she isn't paralyzed.

Its probably still a bit early to tell. I severely contused my spinal cord at c4 in a m/c accident in 2010. I was completely quadriplegic for 2-3 weeks and it took several months of pt before I could walk. Got back on a bike a year or so later, can now ride normally.

The radio silence is disturbing, but its better than knowing for sure that she doesn't have the prospect of a full recovery.

That is really frightening. I’m glad you made it back.

Thanks for the encouragement glepore! You are/were very brave.

I think Kristina is really wonderful, as a fan, and hope she will make a fast and full recovery too.

All the best Kristina!

Thanks, but bravery had nothing to do with it. Stupidity got me there. Luckily I was reasonably fit from a lifetime of cycling, and was able to recover fairly quickly. PT is hard work, but when you get a glimpse of a future of immobility, your animal brain takes over and you'll do what needs to be done.

Unfortunately rather bad news...

Headline from an article in "Der Spiegel":

"Kristina Vogel about being paraplegic: 'Excuse me. I am actually not crying.'

Kristina Vogel, 27, talks for the first time about her tragic accident two months ago - and why it makes no sense to ask yourself 'Why me?'".

Unfortunately, the rest of the article requires a paid subscription but based on the headline it sounds like she's trying to make the best out of it.
