The older Regal Girardi saddles are more comfortable than the newer re-issues.

I'll comment on the comments and recommendations above, and add one more.

The Selle San Marco Regal is an absolute classic, and cannot be denied.

The Selle San Marco Rolls is another great choice.



The Selle Italia Turbo would be a lesser choice when it comes to "vintage" (IMHO), although I happily rode one for years.

I have both white and black Fizik Aliante R3 Opens on most of my bikes, and find them to both look and feel good. Of course, both - and especially the latter - are to be judged only by the owners.

Ha! I actually snagged that exact same color San Marco Rolls saddle last night, so I’m set. Found one used in decent condition on eBay for a pretty reasonable price.

Bonus is that the gold and red accents match the paint scheme of the Merckx perfectly.

I have got one of those white Rolls with the gold and red...just a gorgeous saddle and prolly my as well fave saddle for comfort...you can't go wrong really with either the Rolls or the Regals...the perforated ones I find best as well...
