SSCX Gearing in the Dry

What's the preferred or magic ratio for SoCal type courses? Or what's the tallest practical gear ratio?

TIA

I ran a 42x19 and that worked for me. A lot of people ran a 42x17 and they did that. That was in the bay area and central coast series. Sandy or grassy usually.

I ran 42x19 on flatter courses and 39x19 for some of the hilly ones.

Last time I tried to race my SSCX it was after my geared bike had a cassette break. Was running 38x18, but I like to spin
