Newer tire on an older rim
So the rim in question is prob a 80s araya the tire is newer bontrager 23 mm and it just wont go , layed in the sun , using motor cycle steel levers etc ,aint gona happen ideas?

An 80's Araya rim could be 27", not 700c. If that's the case, you are right, it ain't gonna happen. You could try comparing it to known rim side by side to get definitive answer if the writing is illegible or the rim tag is MIA.

The rim probably has a marking on it. If it says 630 anywhere, a 622mm bead on a new tire will not fit.

Nothing wrong with 30year old bikes and 27" wheels. Heck this one is 47 years old...

Tire firment
How about 29er tires on the araya rim ?? Fingers crossed as the brake have huge clearance and i have aset layeing around.

"29er" is mountain bike marketing speak for "700c."
Bead seat diameter must match exactly between tire and rim. If you have 700c rims, get 700c tires. If you have 27" rims, get 27" tires. |
