What are the bars?
The bars are Nitto M106 NAS. Great bars, but limited widths available.

Harada-san has been building road frames for years but I guess almost no-one other than me outside of Japan has thought to ask him to build one

He uses Sachs vertical dropouts, seat-post binder bolts and looks like the front derailleur tab too, along side his own lugs and fork crown/fork ends, all nicely crafted parts and finish.

Available in 38 to 44cm, silver and black what is limited about those widths?

Are you sure about the 44?

The Nitto site lists them available only in sizes 38, 40 and 42 in the 2020 catalogue.

A lot of sites selling online and they're only those sizes.

I've not found a 44 anywhere except Cycle Project Store, which I assume is an error. Would be happy to find a set if they do exist as a friend is looking for exactly that.

Ah, I misread it as "Sampson" who built titanium and carbon framesets in the early 00's (plus/minus) based around Colorado, iirc.

The frame looks incredible. I'll have to do some googling for more info.

I've been following him on Instagram, and think his work is really great looking, but it wasn't clear to me how to order outside of Japan, and only speaking English. May I ask about the order process?

Fantastic bike!

I still lust for a Panasonic, Cherubim, Nagasawa or Samson road bike.

I used to have this Panasonic track bike, way back when. Had this great smoky paint effect. Was way too small for me though.

He's contactable via his website - http://samson-strada.com/ . His email address is waaaay down at the bottom.

If you're into the Facebook thing then he's available there too (and has a lot more and better photos available than on Instagram) - https://www.facebook.com/tetsuro.harada.14 . He's typically quite responsive by Messenger although right now he's moving studios so who knows.

You'll either have to either contact him in English and let him translate it or find a way to translate to Japanese yourself (seems more polite). Bing Translator isn't terrible for basic English->Japanese, IMO a bit better than Google Translate. If you can write something that goes from English -> Bing -> Japanese -> Google -> English again, and it's understandable at the end of that, then touch-wood you'll be understood.

It's possible to contact and discuss up front, I had a geometry, tubing worked out prior to paying.

He really has three 'models', a flat-fee lugged frame (Elaborate) where you can go with pretty much any tubing, choice of lugs, fork, routing, chrome etc you want. A modern frame (Advance) - rim, disc etc.. And Illusion where you can ask (and pay) for just anything you can think of.

Payment is in full.. no deposit here, bank transfer, Paypal... Turnaround was about 11 months, including a 1 month delay finding a CK headset in Japan during Covid-times and slower than usual shipping.

Contact was good the whole time with plenty of photos coming through. I'd buy again.

Yes a Max fork (and seat-stays). It's a Samson fork crown for Max blades and they're available to buy (as are all Samson frame-building parts), as can be seen with the red fork above.

Congrats on finding those two! I saw a 62cm Surly LHT on ebay yesterday and thought about giving you a shout (canti brake) - but it looks like you are well covered now.. Enjoy the miles.
